EAT PRETTY

IMG_0901

You are what you eat which is why we all should eat to nourish rather that fulfill.

Here is a breakfast option I choose to eat at least twice a week when I’m not eating oatmeal. It’s full of antioxidants from the berries, calcium from the yogurt, fiber and iron from the granola and enriched with vitamin E, copper, magnesium and protein from the added almonds inside the granola.

And for vegan options you could use coconut or almond yogurt instead.

Yummy yogurt parfait ingredients

~ 1 cup of vanilla yogurt. (Organic, greek, soy, almond, coconut, etc.)

~ 1 cup of fruit berries. (1/2 Strawberries, 1/2 blueberries or blackberries, etc.)

~ 1/2 cup of granola with nuts. (Almonds, cashews, etc.)

Enjoy !

Ladies & Gentlemen yes it’s bikini season…

And yes we want to show off our beach bodies and keep that melanin popping.

But….make sure you slay with sunscreen. Here’s why !

Sunscreen isn’t just for the beach. Instead it should be applied as a part of our everyday skincare routine.

Using sunscreen can help prevent skin cancer by protecting you from the suns harmful ultraviolet ray’s according to the American Academy of Dermatology.

There has often been a misconception when it comes to darker colored people wearing sunscreen. Many black and brown individuals believe they don’t need to wear it. Well that is false. Doctor Katie Fiaola, who’s a dermatologist at Baylor Scott & White in Texas tells us why. She said although people with fair skin have a higher risk of getting skin cancer everyone should use it in the same way.

“The darker your skin is the more melanocytes you have. They’re little cells that kind of help protect our body from the sun. But even though you’re darker and have more protection you still could get a skin cancer,” Dr. Fiaola said.

The AAD said the best sunscreen to use is an option that offers broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) protection that has an SPF of 30+ and is water proof.

So everyone make sure you slay with sunscreen!
